If you are moving across from AutoCAD to AutoCAD Electrical, you may have already created a library that consists of blocks with attributes and these are your “Electrical Components”. There is no need to re-create the blocks inside of AutoCAD Electrical as you have the option to swap block (Schematic Tab > Edit Components Panel > Swap/Update Block). This will swap the block, but won’t bring through the attribute information. However, you can setup an attribute mapping file that will map the existing attribute tag names that you’ve assigned the component to the electrical component that exists in the Icon Menu within AutoCAD Electrical and this will then bring the information through onto the new block from the icon menu.
I will demonstrate an example of this below:

As shown above, the attributes have different tag names, but we can map them using the following file formats (xls, csv or txt). The example below is using the txt file format and requires a ‘space’ between the attribute names (shown below).
